Nearer the end

Today I created the discs for the circular tube of the Hotchkiss cannon. (I woke up really early and thought I would get on with it.) I also pierced holes into them using a pentagon template and put the rods into them. I also made a two piece ring that fits half way down and holds the rods on nearer the end.

Today's joke is:

I couldn't remember how to throw a boomerang, but then it came back to me.

Sort of helped

I managed to type in 3 pages of SAASA3 today. I also changed the box on my Hotchkiss cannon to a tube. My grand daughter sort of helped. I made the first one the wrong way round and got lots of creases in it when I bent it round.

Today's joke is:

I couldn't work out how to fasten my seat belt. Then it clicked!

Faster...at the end.

I have made the last three tubes of the Hotchkiss cannon and slotted them into the box. I will try to make up the whole gun tomorrow. I actually got faster at making them at the end. And after yesterday we had to hunt around for some more spaghetti to fill the tubes up. My wife found some.

Today's joke is:

It was getting harder and harder to find dirty clothes to fill up the washer. Eventually I threw in the towel!

Rigmarole

I managed to make two of the barrels for the Hotchkiss cannon. They're a bit wobbly and what a rigmarole I had trying to get them into shape. I cut out some gold card and wrapped it around a thin screwdriver. This didn't work, so I made the card strips bigger, started to form it with a bigger piece of pipe then pushed it through a pen tube. To make it look rounder I pushed some dry spaghetti up it then sealed it with Sellotape. I also started to make the box they are inserted into.

My wife had to ask where the spaghetti was for tea!!! (There was just enough left.)

Zeppelin

Because I wasn't so happy with my picture for the cover of AOT I have decided to create a model to draw, at least the figure. I used an artist's figure I picked up at either a charity shop or a car boot sale (I have two, one slightly detached.) I took the spike out of its rear area, made a cardboard seat for it and a top hat. It looks quite good so far. But now I need to make the Hotchkiss cannon, so I have looked at a picture on Google and made a drawing of it. I will still use the Zeppelin I have already drawn into the PC.

Manual Labour.

Managed to type in 3 pages of SAASA today. Still too dizzy to do any manual labour.

Manual labour sounds a bit like a Spanish fellow who votes for the party of opposition.

General Gallant

I have done a little more of the cover for AOT today (as you can see by the picture.) Added the roof, some more sky and the gun. I am more pleased with it than I was yesterday. I think it still needs something to the left though, maybe the Tawa/General Gallant?

I also proofread two pages of AOT on my laptop.

Down Today

I got a little down today, no not off a duck. I didn't like the picture of Lizzie I did yesterday, I didn't like the picture of Lizzie I did today. I did find a good cannon to copy though and have decided not to put the window in. So tomorrow I just might be able to get on with it.

Too much detail

I finished my airship today and am pleased with it. However I am not pleased with my picture of Lizzie on the rear gun of the Tawa. I'll have to work on it. I am using the Paint from Windows 7 and the free My Paint, between them I can do a decent job - if it doesn't lose too much detail when I swap between each.

nauseousness

I had another scare yesterday. My grandson hurt himself at Starbucks, causing me to be stressed. I felt dizzy and nauseous at home later on, that coupled with the tenderness in my chest muscle caused me to have an anxiety attack so I went back to hospital for the night. They said my blood and heartbeat are normal. The tablets may have caused the nauseousness.

I managed to type in about 250 words of SAASA 4 and do a bit more of the airship picture.

FREE

I typed in a little of SAASA today and Twittered and Tweeted about the FREE give away of Victorian Adventure Society.

Saved

We visited Costa on Clifton Moor today. I used half sugar and half sweetener but it didn't taste as nice at the Starbucks I had on Sunday. I did however manage to type in 450 words of SAASA part 4. I have also formatted and put both The Victoria Conspiracy and The Tawa onto Amazon and saved them as a project, all ready for next weekend. I'll put The Tawa on first, then TVC.

I have also started work on the cover for Attack on Thera.

Today's joke is:

Did you hear about the fellow who had his whole left side cut off?
He's all right now!

W and A

I used Microsoft Paint to cut up the lettering I had done for The Victoria Conspiracy and added a W and and an A, then positioned it in the centre of the plaque. I also cut and pasted some blocks of dints to cover the parts that looked untidy. I may clean it up even further later. I then cut out the picture of Lizzy and Kitty and replaced it with the picture I had created yesterday. I used the basic template I had created for TVC because, after all, it is a short story that will advertise TVC. I made it a little neater in places where I had accidentally cut the bottom of the picture off.

I am putting VAS on Amazon for FREE on Saturday, then following up with The Tawa after that (and TVC), then I need to work on the cover for AOT. I will not put Aurora, Texas on to advertise AOT, the first two should be enough for now.

I also managed to type in about 800 words of SAASA part 3.

A small tube pipe

As you can see from the picture I had fun in the garden today trying to take a good photo of my model of the Tawa. I jammed a piece of spare metal into the grass from the sun room. Then I tied some cotton round it to hang the airship from the metal. I tied another around it to keep it from blowing in the wind. (The answer my friend...) The first few shots were facing into the sun meaning that the ship was very dark and you couldn't see much. So I decided to face it in the opposite direction to allow the sun to shine onto it. I had also set up a diorama with a slightly larger than scale female figure on a Hotchkiss cannon made from spaghetti and a small tube pipe I found outside in the street earlier. This didn't really work after I superimposed it in.
I was planning to wipe all of the background out and make the ship bigger. However I quite liked how the ship seemed to be flying over my neighbour's houses. I deleted the telegraph wires, TV aerial and bits of cotton. I also added the two paddles at the back because they were not on the original.
I also looked into my old files to try to find the title I had started working on, but no joy. I'll have to start again.

Paddle bars

As I said I would I have put a photo on of the Tawa. Today I have chopped up and cleaned two biro tubes and punctured the hull to create the paddle bars. Then I have cut out the card for the paddles and used polystyrene for the filler. I made a hole in the polystyrene and put two of them on the bars. I also used the small white tube to represent the gun that Lizzie uses at the back.

Guns out of wood.

I managed to cut out and glue the walls in, made two guns for the left and right and glue the roof of the Tawa on, so I'm a little closer to finishing. I might eventually make the guns out of wood, we'll see. I'll take a photo tomorrow and put it on here.

Hospital

I had a minor heart attack early on Wednesday morning. So I did no Tweeting or blogging. Have to take it easy for the next month, which gives me time to catch up on all my writing and design projects. While I was in hospital I wrote 1,200 words of Sid and Arthur's Steampunk Adventure part 4. It's sort of funny.

Now I am planning to finish the model of The Tawa today or early next week. I did write a list of the things I need to do to finish it while in hospital.

I have managed to cut and glue the dashboard for The Tawa, and also type in a page of SAASA part 3.

Review!

I found out today that I have a new 4 star review for Sid and Arthur's Steampunk Adventure Part 1! Then I typed in about 50 words of SAASA part 3. You never know, I might type in some more tomorrow.

Maus

Yesterday I wrote 500 words of Aurora in Relish. I am now about half way through. Today I went to Free comic book day at Travelling Man in Goodramgate and got lots of free comics. And another coincidence.

I spoke to Will, the street artist who paints outside the minster. I told him it was free comic book day and he asked me if I had read the graphic novel Maus. I said I had read about the first 10 pages and that it was very dark, about the persecution of the Jews in the Second World War.

So I get in after collecting my comics from Relish and guess what? Maus is staring at me from the stool in the front room! My daughter had got it caught up in her stuff when she moved to Malton. She had cleared it out and given it back to my wife because she is moving to another house. I didn't know I didn't have it!

Flying Saucers

Again I did no writing, but I think I now know where I am going with the short story. Was intrigued to see on the History Channel today that Hitler might have escaped to the South Pole and formed an army there while trying to develop flying saucers.
